South Korean director Yeon Sang-ho, of Train To Busan fame, will take his talents to a larger stage soon. The 45-year-old has been tapped to write and direct his first Hollywood film: 35th Street.

The action-horror will also reunite Yeon with writer Ryu Yong-jae, who has worked with him on the 2020 film Peninsula and the 2024 Netflix series Parasyte: The Grey.

The film 35th Street will be produced by Appian Way Productions, a studio founded by Academy Award-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Since its inception in 2001, Appian Way Productions has co-released numerous acclaimed titles including The Aviator, The Wolf Of Wall Street and Killers Of The Flower Moon.

The filming of 35th Street is set to begin sometime in the second half of 2025. More details of the movie will be released at a later date.

Released in 2016, Train To Busan centred around a group of passengers trapped in a train while fighting a horde of zombies. Praised for its emotional scenes, Train To Busan was a commercial success – earning over US$98 million (S$132 million) worldwide.

The film led to two follow-up entries: Seoul Station and Peninsula – both of which were directed by Yeon Sang-ho.
