For many long-time married couples, romance is a thing of the past. But that’s definitely not the case for veteran TVB actor Kwok Keung Cheung and his wife of 35 years.
In a recent video shared by the 66-year-old star on his socials, he revealed that he still has a habit of writing love letters and mailing them to his wife the old-school way.
“Of course I will call her too, but it’s so romantic for me to write her letters. For the past 40 years, every time I go overseas, I would write a letter to my wife. It’s become a habit, even if she only receives the letter long after I’ve returned home,” he mused.
Despite that, Keung Cheung still thinks he can do better as a husband as there were times he neglected his wife in the past.
“It’s very easy for men to be like that. When they get home they just say they’re tired and go to sleep. Yes, it’s tough for you to be working outside but what about your wife? She’s been waiting at home for you the entire day,” he said.
He then went on to credit Hong Kong actor Michael Miu for imparting him a piece of advice that he keeps close to his heart.
“I remember [he said]: ‘If you play outside for three hours, you need to accompany your wife for three hours when you get home.’ That’s a really good way to put it,” said Keung Cheung.
Thankfully, the actor also has three children who help keep the romance alive.
“I would remember that our wedding anniversary is coming and plan for a family vacation, but they will remind me: ‘Daddy, this is a day for you and mummy, you guys should go on a date!’ So I ended up going on a couple trip with my wife.”
