The updated voter rolls in Singapore will be open for public inspection from 15 February to 28 February 2025, ahead of the upcoming general election.
The revision, initiated by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, aims to ensure that the registers accurately reflect eligible electors.
What the Voter Rolls Are
The revised lists will include names of all Singaporean citizens who meet the qualifications set as of 1 February 2025.
To qualify, individuals must be at least 21 years old, hold Singaporean citizenship, and not be disqualified under any law.
Additionally, electors must have a Singapore residential address listed on their NRIC, unless they are residing abroad and have provided a local contact address for voting purposes
The exercise comes as part of preparations for a general election that must be held by November 2025.
While no specific date has been set, political observers anticipate that the election could be scheduled as early as April or May 2025, following the completion of the revision process and the potential release of the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee’s (EBRC) report.
Eligible voters are encouraged to verify their details during the public inspection period to ensure their inclusion in the updated rolls. The Elections Department has mentioned that all necessary instructions for inspecting the registers will be available on their official website.
Voters should take this opportunity to confirm their details (like whether their addresses are correct), ensuring that they will be able to participate in the next general election.
