It’s not a bad thing when people are fashion forward and experimental with their outfits. But when does one cross the line?
Recently, Chinese star Fan Chengcheng, aka the younger brother of Fan Bingbing, found himself trending on Weibo.
The 24-year-old was photographed wearing a jacket that had the words “I Love Covid19”.
In the same photo, Chengcheng had on a mask that was printed with an image of ’60s American criminal and cult leader Charles Manson’s face.
Netizens were quick to chastise Chengcheng’s outfit as “indecent” and “vulgar”, with many berating him and his team for “lacking common sense”.
One also questioned if Chengcheng even understood what was on his outfit while another called him “illiterate.”
Fans, however, were quick to defend the star.
They argued that Chengcheng’s outfit was based on the theme “Forbidden”, and that he was expressing his thoughts against the widespread of viruses and sexual discrimination through his jacket.
Some even accused netizens for deliberately misreading the message on Chengcheng’s clothes to defame the star.
Um, maybe Chengcheng should just wear something less controversial?
