Ever since Hong Kong influencer Rachel Zhong aka Ng Sok, 33, came out as the mistress of Patrick Ma Ching Hang, 66, the chairman of Tai Sang Bank, his wife, Lisa Kung Ma, has been thrust into the spotlight.
Married to Patrick for over three decades, the low-profile Lisa has remained silent following revelations of her husband’s nine-year affair.
Lisa, who is a trained doctor, rarely attends public events, preferring to stay at home to care for their daughter, Audrey.
Even when Patrick donated in her name to establish the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Ma Hung Lin Chi Child Development Center in 2008, Lisa did not attend the opening ceremony.
Lisa hails from a distinguished banking family with three generations in the industry.
Her grandfather is a prominent figure in the banking sector. He began his career at Chekiang First Bank in the 1920s, and her father, James Hung, served as its chairman.
Lisa’s brother, Leo, also made a name for himself in finance. He was the vice chairman of Chekiang First Bank and since 2005, has been a senior vice president at Bangkok Bank.
Her younger brother, Leroy, is known for his entrepreneurial endeavors, including founding a successful internet business.
After Lisa’s appearance was revealed, comparisons were inevitable between her and Ng Sok.
Many netizens commented on Lisa’s elegance and class, saying: “Comparing her to the mistress is like heaven and earth — one is a refined lady from a noble family, the other is vulgar and unbearable.”
“The mistress can’t shake the solid foundation of the legitimate wife, so she resorts to cheap tricks for attention,” wrote one user.
Netizens also remarked that Lisa, whose looks have been likened to that of former TVB actress Chan Siu Ha, is “much prettier”.
Though Ng Sok and Patrick’s relationship was only recently made public, it has been something of an open secret within Hong Kong’s elite circles.
Ng Sok and Patrick, who have four kids together, would make public appearances including at high society events.
