We’ve all heard stories of lost gadgets turning up in unexpected places, but for one woman, the mystery of her missing phone has left an unsettling feeling in her stomach.
Threads user, @lynn_s.vt, who hails from Taiwan, recently shared about her phone getting stolen when she was at K-pop group Seventeen’s Bangkok concert last month.
Lynn only realised her phone was gone after the show, when she was on the way back to the hotel and wanted to search up nearby restaurants on her phone.
When she managed to track the location of her phone a few days later, she could see that it was in Cambodia.
“That’s crazy, it’s so scary. I returned home safely, [but] my phone has been trafficked in my place,” she wrote.
She was referencing the human trafficking cases that made headlines earlier this year.
Several Chinese actors were reportedly lured to Thailand under false job offers, only to be kidnapped and forced to work in scam centres in Cambodia.
Although Lynn lost her phone, she was grateful that she was safe.
“Did anyone else get their phone stolen and taken to Cambodia at the Seventeen Bangkok shows?” she posted. She added that she “likely isn’t going to get her phone back anymore”.
A couple of netizens have since replied to Lynn’s post, revealing that they, too, had their phones stolen at the same concert.
One netizen tracked his phone’s location to Cambodia as well.
Could it be that their phones were stolen by the same person?
