Mention the homegrown supermarket chain Sheng Siong, and most people will think of The Sheng Siong Show, known for holding its weekly lucky draws where shoppers get a chance to win ‘bai bei’, or hundredfold, of what they spend in a receipt.
As it turns out, the lucky draw winners announced on the show weren’t the only ones who took home prizes. The programme, hosted by Dasmond Koh and Kym Ng, aired its season finale on February 15.
A Xiaohongshu user recently shared a photo of a letter she received from Sheng Siong, dated four days after the finale on February 19.
Titled ‘The Sheng Siong Show – “$100 Lucky Winners”’, the letter informed her she had won $100 worth of Sheng Siong vouchers in a lucky draw that was held in conjunction with the show.
She simply had to head to the outlet stated on the letter to claim her vouchers.
“I never thought I’d be picked [to win this], I’m really surprised,” she wrote.
Many netizens were happy for her, and one even mentioned they had also “won the same prize twice”.
Others also recalled their experiences of participating in games on The Sheng Siong Show — a super lucky shopper shared that he won $4,000 in one night.
Meanwhile, there was also this hilariously relatable comment which was punctuated with a crying emoji: “I’ve never won anything before.”
Well, better luck next season?
