We don’t remember ever reading anything negative about Taiwanese singer Ella Chen over the course of her 22-year career.
But that has now changed.
Recently, reports claimed that the 42-year-old former S.H.E member ticked off Taiwanese actor Wang Shih-Hsien, her co-star on new Taiwanese drama Dr Lifesaver.
The drama had its gala premiere recently. However, both leads, Ella and Shih-Hsien, 55, were no-shows.
According to reports, Ella refused to show up because Shih-Hsien wasn’t going to be there too.
Though Ella’s official excuse for missing the premiere was that she had something on, an insider claimed that she actually told the crew that she felt it would be really weird if she was there without the male lead.
Ella’s actions, unsurprisingly, put Shih-Hsien in a really awkward position.
According to Taiwanese media starettoday, Shih-Hsien is filming in Tainan and was unable to take time off from work to attend the premiere. When he heard that Ella had cited his absence as her excuse for not turning up as well, he got angry.
Sources say, this is not the first time Ella has made things difficult for the crew of Dr. Lifesaver.
Reports claimed that after accepting the role, Ella had many demands. She allegedly asked for better hotels than her co-stars, and was also very particular about working hours and the distance of filming locations from her hotel.
The singer was also said to have kept a distance from her co-stars the whole time they were filming in Taiwan’s Chiayi City.
When her castmates invited her out for meals after work, Ella would turn them down and return to the hotel to rest.
