Last week, Mediacorp actor Zhang Yaodong found his name dragged through the mud after a post on Chinese media Xiao Hong Shu accused him of being a serial cheater.
The post, which showed a photo of the 46-year-old actor asleep on a bed, drew several netizens to share more allegations against Yaodong, including claims that he’s been pretending to be single while in a committed relationship.
It was also alleged that Yaodong already has two children with his long-time girlfriend, but has been fooling around and even got other women pregnant.
Yaodong has not responded to any of the allegations till date, while Mediacorp issued a statement on Jul 5 explaining that they were “unable to comment on artistes’ personal matters”.
According to 8world, Yaodong was originally cast in upcoming Mediacorp drama Emerald Hill, but was dropped from the show before filming began in May.
This led to speculation that the actor was stripped off the role in the Little Nyonya spin-off due to the scandal.
In the original cast list released by Mediacorp in January, Yaodong was set to play the husband of the Zhang family’s youngest daughter, played by Sheila Sim.
However, in the new cast list released in May, Yaodong was replaced by Elvin Ng.
Mediacorp has since responded to rumours regarding the recast.
“Zhang Yaodong was unable to commit to the production period of Emerald Hill because of scheduling conflicts,” they said.
